Hey everyone. I checked out the Spy Sweeper anti-virus software and also took
a lookg at Microsoft One care. Although the Microsoft program has a lot of
really cool features to offer, it just doesn't have the flexibility or the
capability of AVG Professional. It does have some streamlined features for
backing up your address book and Favorites lists for Outlook Express. but,
pound four pound, AVG just seems to do a better job. The professional version
has a lot more features which are programmable. Finally, I already have a
firewall and an anti-spam program. Why pay $49 for one year's service on a
program which, at least in my case, simply duplicates services I already have?
Finally, AVG Professional operates beautifully with Jaws. Even when it's
scanning, you can have it tell you what's going on using the Read All feature.
You can tab in and out of there and get some idea of how much progress is being
made. The first time I scanned my system with AVG Professional, it took an
hour and 16 minutes. That's a long time for any program. Right now, you can
get 2 years of service for about $39. That's a pretty good price for really
decent software.
