I'm positing that there might be a bug (perhaps as yet undiscovered) in 
Eloquence that stops it reading something on that page.  If possible, try using 
another synthesizer, even a software one, to read it.  Best of all, though, if 
you have one, try a hardware or external synthesizer reading it.

    Well, what synthesizer are you using?  That makes a difference to whether 
JAWS can speak, in some awkward situations.

        Something possibly crashing Eloquence, then?  My normal default synth 
is the Apollo 2 external synthesizer.  It reads ok there with JAWS8.

          I tried what you suggested.  Now, jaws reads the page, and shuts up 
          completely.  Can't get the links list to talk or any of the 
navigation 
          keys!
