You can tell the page number you are on by pressing the key combination of insert+page down.
This will read the status bar and tell you what page number you are on. I'm not sure if this will tell you what page you are reading with Jaws, but it usually does with me. I have found that sometimes it will only tell you what page is being displayed, as opposed to what page is being read by Jaws, hence the confusion on my part. As for the bookmark part of your question, I find it easier to convert the page to html format, which you can do with the alt+F then pressing the letter A for save as... This will allow you to save it as an html file format. At that point, you can read it a bit easier, and insert place markers using the key combination of control+K for a temporary placemarker, or pressing the combination of control+shift+K, then tabbing over to add and pressing the spacebar to add the permanent placemarker. You can then go to each placemarker you have set on the page by pressing the letter K, which will take you to each placemarker in order of them being set. Please note that if you leave a temporary placemarker, it will not be there once you close then re-open the file to read again, so you may want to add a permanent placemarker, as the permanent one will be there every time you open the file to read. This is a personal preference of mine, so you may choose to do this differently. Someone else will let you know how to place bookmarks in a PDF file, but as of now, I don't know exactly how to do that.
