Hi, I have searched high and low in the help files for this and am still baffled. I am using JAWS version 7.1 and Windows XP Professional. At least once a day while I am working with several different programs open, not always the same ones, all of a sudden JAWS stops speaking. It is still open and I still get feedback through my Braille display. Even if I close all of the running applications and then restart JAWS, I still have no voice but Braille display information.
The only thing that will fix it is if I completely shut down / restart my computer. Something that is rather frustrating if you happen to be in the middle of working on something important that you hadn't saved yet. I would SO appreciate finding a better solution to this than shutting down.
