There are many possible reasons. Is this a new problem? Did you change
anything recently, I. e. install or remove programs? did you add any
new hardware, like a second HD? You might try having fewer programs
load at startup. You can run MSCONFIG and uncheck unnecessary entried
in the startup tab. If you have several programs in the sys tray, try
disabling some. I once had this problem on an old computer, and doing a
disk defrag helped. If none of these things help, it may be a hardware
issue, like a dying power supply or HD. I doubt that JAWS has anything
to do with it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Why is Jaws slow to speak?

Hi Listers

Upon starting up my computer it takes jaws roughly 20 minutes before it
lets me know it is ready. I am using jaws 6.0 and XP home.Any thoughts
or suggestions. Is this an instance of needing to repair jaws? If so can
some one provide the steps. Thanks in advance for any help regarding
this matter.
