Hi Steven,

I also get that popping sound from my speakers, when I'm using my laptop.

Are you using a laptop when you hear these popping sounds?

Is your laptop a Toshiba brand laptop?

Do you hear the popping sounds in conjunction with any other sounds, such as
e-mail receiving, or a window refreshing, or Internet Page or link getting
entered on?

I have a Toshiba laptop, along with software that turns my laptop's speakers
into surround sound system speakers.

Not only does it broaden the sound quality of them, but it also increases
the base, treble and all that other stuff.

Great when you're trying to listen to a described movie on your computer or
some really hip music, but when you're working, and Jaws is reading the
information on the page, along with snap, crackle and pop...Uhm, not so
great...

You'll be happy to know that there is a way to fix that, if the normal way
doesn't work.

If you bring up the default configuration file for Jaws by hitting the
insert+F2, then C for configuration manager, and open the default file,
press alt+S and arrow up to Synthesizer Options.

Once in the box, make sure the check box that says Allow wave files with
software synthesizers is checked.

tab to the ok button, save with the control+S, and alt+F4 out of the
configuration manager.

If that still doesn't fix the problem, check your system tray for any sound
related applications.

An example I can use is on my computer and it's called Toshiba Virtual
Sound. This is the program that comes with the laptop, as part of the
included software and is also the software responsible for expanding and
broadening the sound when ever I play a media file.

Like I said, if you can shut this feature off, if you have it, that is, it
might fix a great deal of the snapping, crackling and popping.

Let us know what happens.
