Hi Christopher: If you cannot afford JAWS and are using a demo, you can still report Suggestions, Comments as well as quality suggestions and bugs you find to FS. However, I do, not think they will give free technical support if you have not purchased JAWS.
. The more information they get the better able they will be to make JAWS a better product and discover incompatibilities with JAWS. Windows+Insert+F4 is only for when a total loss of speech occurs, and it is difficult or impossible to recover JAWS without rebooting the computer. However, a reboot provides no diagnostic information to assist Freedom Scientific in researching the underlying problem. New keystroke closes JAWS, terminates all related processes, and creates a memory dump file. The diagnostic information can be used to assist FS in troubleshooting problems. The memory dump file is saved to the Settings folder located in the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\ApplicationData\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\8.0\Settings\ENU. . In this folder is another folder called, JAWSMemDmp folder. The files in this folder are identified by the JAWS version and build number. The memory dump file has diagnostic information that can be used to assist FS in diagnosing problems. The more information they have then the better they can tell which drivers, programs etcetera are causing JAWS problems; so it is just helping them to make a better product for us. The key stroke is made Awkward to use so you do not activate it accidentally and is, as David said, like a last resort. Below is from FS Web site: Contact Freedom Scientific Quality: : Freedom Scientific welcomes any suggestions you have that will help improve our products and provide better service. However for those who can't afford JAWS but still wish to report bugs to FS, can we still do that? I didn't think this would be possible since we would have to be registered with them before we can contact them to report bugs etc, correct? Thanks.
