Hi:
Apparently allot of these issues are resolved with a newer version of the
Freedom Scientific Video Intercept driver, version 10.12.597.0 (or higher).
Download and install the new video
intercept driver from the link below, then reboot.
You can confirm that you have the updated JAWSVID.dll 10.12.606 by looking
a the version number in the Video Intercept Manager. You can open the
utility by going to the Start Menu, Programs, JAWS, Tools and choosing it
from the list. The static text in the dialog will indicate the JAWSVid
version.

ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/FSVideoIntercept.exe

Also, if you continue to experience problems, ensure that hardware
acceleration is set to 100%. In many cases, this is not set to 100% by
default. You can modify this setting by following these steps:

1. Open Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel and choose Display. This will
open the multi-page Display Settings dialog.
2. Press CTRL+tab to move to the Settings page.
3. Press TAB to move to the Advanced button and press ENTER. This opens
another multi-page dialog.
4. Press CTRL+TAB repeatedly to move to the Troubleshoot page.
Note that the exact layout of the Troubleshoot page could vary depending on
the installed video driver.
5. Press Tab to move to the Hardware Acceleration control. This is a
slider, so press the END key to force it to the uppermost position. This
will be 100%.
6. Press TAB to move to the OK button and press ENTER. The previous
Settings dialog is again displayed.
7. Press TAB to move to the OK button in this dialog and press ENTER.
8. Reboot your computer so that the changes will take effect.

HTH

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Focus Issues

Hi Folks,

Coincidentally, unlike others who are having trouble with their focus
issues in Microsoft Word, I'm having trouble with Outlook Express.

I am using Jaws 7 and Outlook Express 6 with XP home, and when I'm
composing a new message or replying to one, I'll go through the text, and
Jaws will skip some text in the message.

I'll be reading a line, like:

I was walking through the park.

Jaws will read:

I was the park.

However, if I highlight the line, Jaws will read it all, and from that
point on, highlighted or not, it will read the entire line.

This is rather bothersome, and I don't know how to fix it.

I've also noticed that Jaws will stop midway through the message, if it's a
long one, for no reason whatsoever. I'll do a say all, and half way
through, it will hesitate, finish reading the paragraph, then stop reading
altogether.

If I do another say all from that point on, it will some times read the
following paragraph, and stop again, or it will continue reading until the
end if there isn't much left to the message.

I have the window maximized, and I'm using autosizer, so I don't have to
maximize the window all the time.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or am I doomed until I upgrade, which I
don't plan on doing in the near future?

Any help would be appreciated.

Victor
