Margaret,

JAWS 7.0 has settings files already created for the advanced find
dialogue, but they don't seem to be there for 7.10. I copied the 7.0
files to the 7.10 file location just to see what would happen, and it
seemed to give the functionality you are looking for. I haven't gone
into any detail on this, so maybe there are good reasons Freedom
Scientific didn't include these files with 7.10!

Here's how I did it:

1. In My Computer I went to C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\7.0\SETTINGS\enu. I think
the enu at the end of that indicates a UK user; if you have a US install
it may be eng.

2. Select all file that begin with "outlook express 5-6". I got eight
files.

3. Copy them to C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Application
Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\7.10\Settings\enu, replacing "username"
with your account string and using eng at the end if that's what you
used in step 1.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] More on Advanced Find in OE JFW 7.1

Steve,

Yes, it does work for me and I think I understand what was
happening.

JAWS 7.0 helpfully announces check box not checked to remind me to
hit the space bar and does not announce list box, but hitting space in
the list box would be the same as hitting space to check a check box.

Now, a problem I'm having with Advanced Find in OE with JFW 7.1 is
that the number of unread messages resulting from the search is
correctly announced with Insert-pg down, but JAWS does not announce
"Unread" in the message list view. This worked properly in 7.0 here.
I remember that, for some reason, Advanced Find is somehow considered
to be part of XP Home and is not really part of OE or at least that
was the way it was with Win 98. At any rate I seem to be having to
configure things like muting the escape key again after hitting
Control-Shift-F after I've already done them in OE.

Any help in getting "Unread" in the message list view after doing
the Advanced Find command would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Margaret

Margaret,

When you get to what JAWS reports is the "Received after: list box",
you
are actually on a control that contains a checkbox, today's date and a
date picker. I don't know a way of using the date picker with the
keyboard. If you want to specify dates as part of your search
criteria,
press SpaceBar to check the checkbox and then RightArrow to the date.
I'm set to European dates which are expressed as date, month, year; if
you're set to US style dates you may get month, date, year. For each
of
them you can effect changes with UpArrow, DownArrow or by typing a new
number.

Does that work for you?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] More on Advanced Find in OE JFW 7.1

I discovered another much more serious problem with JAWS 7.10.500
and Advanced Find in OE 6 and IE 6. So far, I've been unable to use
the time frame part of the dialogue.

When I do a Control-Shift-F and tab to the time frame part, JAWS 7
says received after and something that sounds like day time ticker
July 24 2007 and not checked. I can check the box and change the date
if I want. However, with 7.10.500, JAWS says received after list box
July 24 2007 and I'm unable to check it
and change the date for the search for messages during a specific time
frame.

Any ideas on how to get this to work as in 7.0 will be greatly
appreciated.

Margaret
