I think Those prefix numbers and letters sound like typos or nonces. I
think I'd start over, editing out questionable characters or deleting and
re-doing entries as necessary. However, I don't have Access32.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] DEC-Talk Access 32 and JFW 7.0 & 7.1

Hi All,

Before I install JAWS 7.1 again, I'd like to try to do what I can
to get the GW Micro version of DEC-Talk Access 32 to work better with
JAWS since I'm still getting the dreaded DEC-Talk Access 32 is not
authorized to run on this machine message with JFW 7.0 and on the
previous installs of 7.1.

My tech worked on the problem with one version of JAWS and it
might have been with 7.0. Right now,

_1Load DECtalk Access32
zJAWS
are in the startup sub menu in programs. I don't know what the
underline and 1 are doing in front of Load DECtalk Access32 or if the
"z"
in front of JAWS was a typo.

I found a TSN on the FS site that might help:

Bulletin Type: TSN

Date Posted: 03/12/2007

Product Name: JAWS

Version: Any

Category: Synthesizer

Short Description:

3rd-party DECTalk Access 32 "not authorized" message.

Problem:

Installing JAWS to use DECTalk Access 32 as the default synthesizer
may result in a denial of access message. This is true for all Freedom
Scientific Products
that can use third party synthesizers. The DECTalk Access 32 Speech
Engine is not loaded into memory, and the Freedom Scientific product
can not access
it when it attempts to use the synthesizer.

Solution:

The DECTalk Access 32 speech synthesizer must be loaded into memory
before starting the Freedom Scientific product with which you want to
use it.

An application shortcut for the DECTalk Access 32 speech synthesizer
can be placed in the Startup submenu of the Start Menu. The following
steps are applicable
for all Microsoft Operating Systems though if you are on Win NT 4, Win
2000, or XP Pro, you will need to be logged in as admin to be able to
modify the
start menu.
List of 10 items
1. Press Windows Logo Key+M to minimize all applications.
2. Press TAB to move to the Start Button.
3. Press the Applications Key, move to Open, and press ENTER.
4. Move to Programs and press ENTER. (If Programs is the top item,
press SPACEBAR before you press ENTER.)
5. Move to DECTalk Access 32, and press ENTER.
6. Move to Load DECTalk Access 32 and press CTRL+C.
7. Press BACKSPACE.
8. Move to Startup and press ENTER.
9. Press CTRL+V.
10. Press ALT+F4 to close the window.
list end

Once this shortcut has been copied, after the next time you restart
your computer, Freedom Scientific products can use the DECTalk Access
32 speech synthesizer.

Please Note:
If using JAWS, you cannot use the Start JAWS Automatically feature,
since this starts JAWS before the DECTalk Access 32 speech synthesizer
is in memory.

I don't have start JAWS automatically checked.

Should I delete the "_1Load DECtalk Access32" before trying the
instructions in the TSN or is there some way of editing it? Does the
"zJAWS" belong in there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated since it seems that the "not
authorized" thing is getting worse with each version of JAWS since 3.3
and I wish I had even a nickel for every time I've heard that darned
message.

    Thanks,,

Margaret
