Wel, while I haven't removed Outlook Express 6 from Windows XP, I did do it 
on Millennium.  (If you'd started with Windows XP on OE5, then upgraded to 
OE6, you could probably remove OE6 - but that might have been changed as 
well in SP2.  How about if you put a new mail client, say Eudora, in, and 
imported all of your OE messages?  Could you perhaps do it then?)  (MS 
regard IE as being central to Windows, connectivity and all that.  that was 
not being said for Outlook Express when the European Union was filing suit 
against them for unfair competition.)

No it can't. I've tried to find it through ad-remove programs and even
unclean.  You can only remove the shortcut to OE via the windows add and
remove  components thing. If I recall I remember fred langa  saying
something about that as well.
