You should also be able to go to any Radio Shack and purchase an adapter, either serial to USB or Serial to parallel, or something else you'll be able to use.
It just depends on what you have available. You could also install a serial card into your PC, and you may not have to configure the bios in that case, as Windows may pick it up as a plug and play device.
