Hi Carla. I echo Siobhan's recommendation. I asked earlier what version of windows you were using to figure out if it was a pop-up blocking sound. Try doing what Siobhan suggested and see if that doesn't solve the problem. You could also turn off popup blocking in Internet Options under privacy, but that might open up a whole new can of worms for you and not really do you any good. You might also try pressing shift+enter on the links in question to activate them, but that would only be a bandage and not solve the problem thoroughly, as Siobhan's suggestion would.
