Oh john my friend of little faith, you have indeed missed too many staff
meetings. Look on the audio page under the JAWS heading and listen to
tutorials 1 and 3 respectively. I personally cover everything you asked for
last year as a matter of fact. Don't worry though because you did raise a
very good point that many people do not cover.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] A SUGGESTION NOT SUPPORTED BY JAWS HELP

>From time to time, various programs have been suggested by one list member
>or other. For some of these offerings, a great deal of effort has been
>made to create scripts which make the program much more accessible.
>However, there is one vitally needed process which has never really been
>addressed to my knowledge. The fact is, there are some people out there
>who just don't know how to get those scripts into their Jaws system
>properly. In fact, that process has changed with the introduction of newer
>Jaws versions. The folder containing those scripts is in a completely
>different place in Jaws 8 than it was in Jaws 5 for example.
I'd like to suggest that one of our technical writers like Dave, Rick or
Denny, prepare a detailed instruction sheet for that process which transfers
scripts from .zip files or other set ups to the right place in Jaws. For
some, that concept is nothing short of terrifying. However, with a step by
step explanation, things might be handled more reliably and certainly with
less anxiety.
If this has already been done and I missed it somehow, I apologize. I
searched Jaws thoroughly and couldn't find anything which referred directly
to that procedure. As I'm sure most of you know, adding new scripts can be
a difficult operation without a full understanding of exactly where the
various files belong. I, for one, would sincerely appreciate that kind of
direction.
There are programs which have self-installing scripts but for the most part,
the actual work has to be done manually.

Thanks very much for your time and attention to this idea.
