Gentlemen,
The web site referenced in one of these messages is simply a tongue in cheek
title. Actually, the site contains information about short cuts to some of the
more difficult subjects covered by college. I agree that the site designers
have a poor sense of humor but unless we're talking about 2 completely
different web addresses, the one I know is similar to the notorious Cliff
Notes of a few years ago. It contains abbreviated book reviews, notes on
various class materials, how to make use of your time suggestions and so on.
There may be other lists which do try to cheat the system in one way or another
but believe me boys, they don't last long and not one of them is worth a darn.
Today's testing procedures are very intelligent. They give the student very
limited opportunity to "cheat" anyone or anything. I'm not sure it can't be
done but believe me Rick and David, it sure as heck isn't easy.
In addition, when it comes right down to it, the student has a time when it's
him and the computer. In most cases, the student is asked to remove all of the
contents from his pockets except for personal items. The classrooms are
monitored regularly. Most have closed circuit cameras which can view every
GROUP AS A WHOLE OR ONE or MORE STUDENTS at a time. If any student is
perceived speaking to another person taking the test during it's duration, he
or she is removed from the procedure and all test results are immediately
canceled.
Is it fair? Who knows? Is it technically marvelous, you'd better believe it.
I hope this helps both of you with a difficult and thankless job. Monitoring a
group of highly independent individuals has to be a hard TASK. By the way, to
keep this message on track, most of the adaptations in these university testing
facilities use Jaws as the preferred speech system.
