Ok, so it's much the usual Outlook Express set-up. As you probably know (or
will know soon enough!), it's not - or not necessarily - a straightforward
process even if you know what to do. Firstly, do a Compact All Folders -
from the message list - with alt-f, f, f. See what happens then. You'll
get .bak files in your Recycle Bin from this. Are any of these .bak files
your wwayward folders? If they are, try restoring them and see what
results.

If that didn't work, what I think I'd try doing is, first, create new
(empty) folders in outlook Express in the usual way, on the same level as
the Inbox etc., using the names you gave the to-be-restored folders. then,
try restoring the folders from the Recycle Bin. Unfortunately, it is also
quite possible that some or all of these folders have become corrupted,
which Outlook Express .dbx files are very susceptible to.

Now, if the above doesn't work, I would empty your Inbox and put the
messages from it into other folders. Then, rename in turn each .dbx file
you have restored, Inbox.dbx, and create a new folder under the name you had
given the to-be-restored .dbx. then move your messages from your Inbox back
to your new folder in outlook Express. Unfortunately, some of this kind of
thing was easier to do in earlier versions of windows.

Flor, when I go into the recycle bin, I'm looking for outlook express e mail
folders which I gave titles to, mostly geneology items-e mails. I would
write myself an e mail and sned it one of the folders. Ken was able to
restore the folder titles but most were empty. He said the files in some of
the folders were highlighted as read so I guess he meant read only. Does
this make sense? There is no rhyme or reason that I know of for some to be
highlighted. So, the folder titles are there but they are empty and say so.
