Hi Ann, Sometimes that works and sometimes you end up with an extra line space and more bullets or numbers. With all of the automatic features disabled you can always highlight the text you want bulleted or numbered, go to "Bullets and Numbering" in the format menu, highlight your selection, press enter on it and you are done.
