Hello

This problem sounds familiar to me and I wonder if it really does have
anything to do with Jaws 9?

Is your colleague using a different or new keyboard?
Has she recently learnt touch typing?
Is this problem happening when using Word or Notepad for typing?

I have sometimes irritatingly turned Narrator on by mistake when typing and
the "heel" of my right palm has pressed the window key by mistake when I am
typing U. It took me a while to realise that this was why Narrator was
coming on as I was oblivious to my typing fault. I occasionally hit the
control key with my hand as well without realising it.

This probably means that I need a writ support to lift my hands off the keys
more. I do not personally find these comfortable. You could try deploying a
wrist support to see if that removes the problem. Alternatively try
adjusting the back keyboard "legs" to see if this causes any change.
Personally I have just got used to the nuisance of Narrator occasionally
coming on and then having to exit it. I prefer to do this than use a wrist
support.

Regards

David Griffith

Right, I've had her do this, however, I was wondering if there was something
she might be doing accidentally that might be turning the narrator on or if
anyone had heard of the narrator just randomly turning on without a prompt.
Thanks for the info though.

Exit narrator. If this can't be done in normal conditions, bring up the
utilities menu with Windows-U, u, and then close the utilities window and
tab to the narrator exit button and enter. .

Hey gang,

I've got a colleague who states that her MS narrator occasionally pops up
without any prompt from her, causing a verbosity battle between JAWS and the

narrator. She is running an XP OS and was using JAWS 8 (she just switched
to 9). I was wondering if anyone had ever experienced this and if so, what
can be done to keep this from happening. Thanks in advance.
