I'm trying to help my boyfriend Steve configure his Vista OS to work as well as it can with the new Jaws. There were some problems when he was running 8.0 with Vista, but it seems we are having quite a few more focus issues with 9.0. The techs at FS, we have talked with 2 different ones now, are doing what they call an "escalation" on the problem because they can't answer why we are having so many problems. They say it is a Vista problem, not a Jaws problem, for instance, when trying to use Contacts where addresses are stored. Contacts will open, but then give a message that the program is not responding, & Jaws will not focus at all on any of the items in the list view, or speak. I can see why that might lead them to believe that it is OS related.
But now when we are trying to do certain operations, such as open the What's New in Jaws menu, the computer opens nothing, only makes the clicking sound as though it has opened the folder. Also, there are times when we enter on a menu to open it, & we are simply booted out of the menus altogether, they close, & we are booted to the desktop. Can anyone tell me if there are certain things in Vista we need to configure a certain way to get max performance & better focus with Jaws 9? Apologies if this question has already been addressed.
