I think the first thing to check is that the "provide feedback with sound" option is checked. Press Alt-T to bring up the tools menu, then press O to bring up the options dialog box. Switch to the "general" page tab. You can use shift-tab until you get to the page tabs and then use left arrow until you are on the general page tab. Tab to the checkbox that says something like Provide feedback with sound, and make sure it is checked. If it is not checked then use the spacebar to check it. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar.
If you need to reinstall the sounds file you can try to find it on the Microsoft Office web page. I am quite sure I still have a copy of it at work but I won't be back to work until Wednesday. However, I can send you a copy then or upload a copy of it to SendSpace for you to download.
