Hi, when you do a repair, you'll be asked if you want to remove user settings. If you choose no, your user settings will of course not be removed. The repair will scan for and repair deleted or corrupted files that were installed during the initial installation. Registry entries will also be scanned for and repaired. Hope that helps.
