Victor,

Things may have changed between different versions. Since I use Windows
media player as the default for most of these file types, I had no problems
when upgrading from version 10 to 11. I remember being asked - before
playing a Main Menu mp3 file as it was on that occasion i described
previously - did I want Windows Media player to always play this type of
file? (I was testing it, you see. At that time, I had winamp playing my
mp3's. So i said no, and then opened the file in Winamp. The choice took)

Hi Flor,

Doesn't the install for the WMP update involve the user actually setting up
the preferences?

I seem to remember that it did similar to Winamp.

Last time I installed the update to WMP 11 from 10, it asked me what file
types I wanted WMP to handle.

I simply told it to only handle video files and to leave audio and CD's
files to other programs.

I could be wrong about this, but this may have been a particular setting I
entered on when I installed it.

Victor
