You might want there to be no speech at all, but still be able to use 
braille, for example.  That's one way of achieving this.  Not every 
application will have a JAWS config file, particularly if JAWS has neither 
been configured for or seen it before; and in that context there is no 
reason why there wouldn't be an unseen (to JAWS) self-voicing application 
out there.

Hi, just curious here. Why on earth is this option available in
default.jcf? Surely one doesn't want to put JAWS to sleep for all
applications? Seems a stupid idea to make it available globally in my
