I'd test the hard drive first. Usually it's the number 1 thing that goes
out. If you have a second computer with a USB port and a docking station
for hard drives, this should be relatively straight forward. Basically
what you do is connect the hard drive to the station, connect the
station to your second computer via USB, then run tests to see if there
are problems. Based on what you've said I'm assuming you know some about
this. For thorough testing of a hard drive, you may want to look up
"Bart's Stuff Test". It's an old program but it works nicely and it's free.
If the hard drive is sound, and you want to test memory, look up "Mem
Test HCI". There's a free and a commercial version. The free version
should do what you want.

hello Shane, Thanks, this is what I always thought. I am at the point
where I am willing to do anything. I guess that I will just first to
try the reinstall of windows. If it does not work it confirms my
thought that it is a hardware problem. I will then probably replace
both the mb and hd. Reinstall win 7 then upgrade to 10. This machine
is about 6 years old a few months after win 7 was released

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] reg cleaners
I'd run cCleaner. It does a pretty good job and is accessible for the
most part. However you may wish to consider a couple articles:
https://www.howtogeek.com/171633/why-using-a-registry-cleaner-wont-speed-up-your-pc-or-fix-crashes/
http://news.softpedia.com/news/are-registry-cleaners-still-needed-on-windows-10-microsoft-says-they-re-not-498103.shtml
Take the second one for what it's worth.

What is the best win 7 reg cleaner. I want to try that before I try to

I do suspect a hardware problem but want to eliminate any software
issues
first.
