Hi, In windows 10, press the windows + B for the notification chevron
button, press spacebar, now arrow up and there it is.

Mine is not reading remove device either.

I agree Dave, I am saving Mike's method as well, for my students who want to
do it this way.

I don't think either way is better than the other. In my opinion so long as
you do one of them to safely remove your devices is all that matters.

FYI I do it your way as well, but I am going to save Mikes' method for
possible posting.

Hi Mike, for 'USB Mass Storage Device', here's what I normally do.
Windows key +E
R for the restore drive (if the device hasn't been named) I then press the
application key for the property Then J for Safe To Remove Hardware.

btw, I've been told I do things the lazy way and I spread laziness. *grin*

A Possible Fix, Redone

Hi All,

I tried to make this less confusing than my original post. Hopefully I
succeeded.

I was hiding several icons in the notification area of the Taskbar
properties, & after doing so Jaws quit announcing the, Safe To Remove
Hardware: The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be safely removed,
from the computer. , dialogue. The Safe To Remove hardware & Eject media
icon was showing in the system tray, but Jaws just wouldn't announce the,
Safe To Remove Hardware: The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be
safely removed from the computer. ,dialogue after clicking on a drive I
wanted to remove. Below is what I did to fix it.

When attempting to remove drives from the system tray via the, Safely Remove
Hardware & Eject Media icon, in the system tray, & Jaws doesn't make
the,Safe To Remove Hardware: The 'USB Mass Storage Device' device can now be
safely removed from the computer. , announcement, & all your settings for
sounds are correct try the following:
1. Open the Taskbar properties, tab to the, Notification Area Customize
button, & press the spacebar to open.
2. Tab to the, Windows host process (Rundll32) Combo box icon, & if the,
Hide Icon And Notifications, is highlighted this is probably the most likely
reason Jaws isn't announcing the Safe To Remove Hardware dialogue.
3. Arrow up / down & highlight either the, Show Icon In Notifications, or
the, Only Show Notifications option.
4. Tab to, Okay, press the spacebar, again tab to, Okay, press enter to save
& close.
This happened to me & doing the above steps fixed the problem.
Take care.
Mike
