Lenny, I'm unsure where you are in this process. If you're trying to create page numbers, I'll copy the directions I created for myself. However, you seem to indicate you've already succeeded there. If you're wondering how to get out of the page number dialog, all you need do is press escape numerous times. To get back in, I believe you press alt-n, then separately but quickly the letters n u.
Here are my basic page numbering instructions for word 2010. I say "basic" because you can make the process as complicated as you like. I haven't done this in a while, so I hope they make sense. 1. Alt-n for insert. 2. Press n then u to reach page number, which may be announced as header/footer. You land on options for top or bottom, meaning the choice between placing the page number at the top or bottom of the page. Press enter on your choice. 3. You are then given a choice of 1, 2 or 3, which in order mean left, center or right. Once again, these refer to positions on the page. Press enter on your choice. Word exits the dialog and returns you to the document. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lenny McHugh Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2017 9:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] page numbering thanks, it makes sense -----Original Message----- From: Scorpio Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2017 9:03 PM To: JFW List Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] page numbering Hi Lenny, That's because the page numbers are in the heading of the page, and you have to toggle a keystroke to get to the header of the page. Jaws just figures you want to work with one part of the document at a time, so when you're editing the document proper, it will only focus on that, but when you're editing the header, as you did when you added the page numbers, it switches to the header view. I don't know what the keystrokes are to go from one to the other, but I'm sure the Office help, under keystrokes will have it. Hope this helps. Scorpio -----Original Message----- From: Lenny McHugh Sent: Saturday, April 8, 2017 8:42 PM To: JFW List Subject: [JAWS-Users] page numbering I finally found the page numbering. Now I am totally lost. I selected page x of y at the top. Now I can read page 1of 9 or 2 of 9 but not the document. When I can get to read the document the page number is not read but page 1 or page 2 etc. I have to get someone to look over it to make sure it is what I need. The document is a durable power of attorney and advanced directive document. I need this before Monday. --- Please visit my web page It's motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
