Brian,

Check your settings. Make sure that the output is being directed to your
sound card or default sound output.

If it raised the volume then how did it not make any difference?

Hello there;

Are you sure that the volume isn't turned down?

Open a file/tune,
Once the tune is loaded and playing, press the up arrow, to raise the
volume.

Good morning, listers, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio. I'm attempting to
assist my wife to solve a problem with winamp on her laptop which is an hp
zbook z17 running 64-bit windows 7 professional with 8 gigs of ram. Winamp
will play the file as you can tell that the file is playing when you use the
jump to time command control plus j. The problem is we can't get any sound.
I've uninstalled winamp gotten it out of program files x86 as well as
application data and then have reinstalled it but still can't get any sound.
I've switched the sound sources from Microsoft mapper and also changed
plugins from direct sound to wave out and vise versa and it still doesn't
change things the file is playing but with no sound. Yet windows media
player will paly just fine. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Have a great day! BZ1

You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.
