Hi Greg, I tried this on my wife's laptop that has a 3.0 and 2.0 and could not tell the differents. My wife says they look the same to her and they do not have any color showing on either one. We know the one usb port is a 3.0 because it has an SS beside it which means super speed which is an 3.0. So that is all I can tell about it. My Dell laptop has 3 USB ports and one does have a noticeable inner piece I can feel. HTH.
