Yeah, they don't necessarily help in using Jaws. The point is if you are
writing a Word document and you want to make some specific points that will
stand out as they are read in a printed format in particular, although I
have embossed bulleted text in Braille before.
Thinkk of it as being similar to an outline, except that they are unnumbered
and generally all at the same level.
Even if you have a documented that is bulleted, you can set Jaws using the
speech schemes to not read those if you want to ignore them.

How do the bullits help in using Jaws?
The reason I ask, is because to me, just listening to them, they don't add
anything to the understanding of the material and just are a form of
verble clutter.

When using the bullet feature in MS-Word, it provides a very clean visual
appearance. Let me see if I can explain. The bullet will be up against
the
left margin, or most frequently ¼ of an inch to the right of the left
margin. This is called the hanging indent. The start of the text will be
a
little to the right of the bullet. As an example, let's say that the
bullet
is 1/4 of an inch wide, and the space between the bullet and the start of
the text is 1/4 of an inch. This means that the text is starting 1/2 of
an
inch away from the left margin. This is called the left indent and is .5
of
an inch from the left margin. If the text you are typing is longer than
the
line and needs to wrap down to the next line, the start of that subsequent
line will be positioned right under the start of the previous line’s text
at
the 1/2 inch mark from the left margin. When you are at the beginning of
a
line, you can use the Insert+f command to learn about the hanging indent
and
left indent positions. If JAWS announces Aligned left, then you know the
text is flush against the left margin and there is not a bullet at the
start
of the information.
The use of bullets makes it easier for the visual reader to quickly move
from one item to the next. Personally, I find it also allows me to
quickly
move through bulleted information with JAWS.

Annette

Hi.
I always type an asterisk with a space where I want my bullet. For me
this
is in bulleting paragraphs or sentences, and at the beginnings of lines.

Control shift L will begin insertion of bullets.
Pressing enter twice will end the insertion.

Afternoon all.
I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to tell me the steps for
inserting bullets in a word document using Word 2013? I am using JAWS 17,
and a dell laptop. Many thanks in advance appreciation.
