Hello Norma,
It sounds like you are still getting the navigation pane search feature when
you use the CTRL+F command. If you have some sight and can see the list of
results using this pane then you might prefer it. Otherwise, you might want
to get CTRL+F to bring up the Find and Replace dialog like it did in earlier
versions of Word. If that is the case then here is another suggestion.
In addition to having CTRL+F for EditFind and CTRL+H for EditReplace you
might want to make sure that the keystroke is removed from the NavPaneSearch
item.
After using Alt+F followed by Alt+T, pressing C for "Customize ribbon", and
launching the "Customize keyboard" dialog box by using the Customize button,
just arrow down to the Home tab.
Use the tab key to move to the list of commands for the Home tab.
Press the letter "N" and then use down arrow to find the "NAVPaneSearch"
item and check to see if the CTRL+F is still being used by that command. If
so you can remove it or replace it with another keystroke to launch the
navigation pane search.
You can then go into the EditFind item in the same list of commands for the
Home tab and make sure CTRL+F is applied to that item.
I thought I would mention this because I wasn't sure if you want CTRL+F
to launch the navigation pane or the Find and Replace dialog box.
Take care.

Well I may have resolved this issue. Following Brian's instructions, I
checked the key combos for find and find/replace. I needed to enter
Control+F for find but Control+H was set for find/replace so I left it.
After closing down and restarting Word, Control+F does bring up the search
dialogue and Jaws says "Navigation pane search document edit." It is a
mystery to me how the key combo for find was cleared but at least I'm back
in business. Thank you, Brian for your help! Best, Norma

Hello Annette,
In Word 2010 CTRL+F was set to go to the navigation pane. In order to have
CTRL+F launch the Find and Replace dialog in the Find tab, and for
CTRL+CTRL+H to
launch the same dialog box in the Replace page, you can do the following:
Press Alt+F followed by Alt+T.
Press the letter C in the category list of options to move to the Customize
Ribbon item.
Tab to the Customize button and press spacebar.
In the category list that appears for customizing the keyboard press A until
you get to All Commands.
Use tab key and you might need to wait a couple seconds for the list to
populate.
Press the letter E to move down to the items that start with that letter.
You want to check the EditFind and EditReplace items. You will need to
arrow down several times to find them.
For each of those items tab to the box that shows keys currently being used
and read the line. JAWS might say that nothing is selected but reading the
line will tell you if there is a key combination currently being used. The
EditFind should have CTRL+F and the EditReplace should have CTRL+H.
To add or change the key combination for these items tab to the box where
JAWS tells you to enter the new shortcut key. Use CTRL+F for EditFind and
CTRL+R for EditReplace.
Tab to the close button and then OK or whatever the affirmative response is
to keep changes and get out of the dialog box.
If the two commands mentioned above already have the correct keystrokes
applied then something different is happening.
Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Find & Find/Replace Have Changed in Word2010
Hi All,
I am using JAWS18 and Office 2010 on a Windows7 machine. Two weeks ago at
work and now today at home I am having problems using Find and Find/Replace
in Word. I have not check to see if the problem exists in Outlook or Excel.
When I use either the keyboard commands or the ribbon for Find and for
Find/Replace, The dialog box no longer comes up. Instead, It seems like I
am left in the ribbon or in a drop-down menu on the Ribbon, and I cannot
complete a Find or a Find/Replace. I am in some type of edit box that
announces "Graphic884" for both the Find and Replace fields. Does anyone
have any idea why this is happening, or how to get the dialog box back?
Thanks,
Annette
