I think he will have to change the document to edit it under the document
properties. Some authors apparently designate individual docs as read-only
so they can't be edited. But, you can usually change that in the properties
for that document.
I suppose another option is to highlight everything in that read-only
document, copy it to the clipboard and create a new document and paste the
material in. But, if you do that, you might lose some of the formatting.
