List is active. Virtual ribbons supposedly allow you to use Outlook and other Microsoft products with the old menu structure, however if turned on you can't use shortcut keys such as let's say control N for a new message, you must go through the menus to create a new message.
Your mileage may vary, advise you to use the ribbons despite needing to remember three or more key combinations to do almost anything. Faster in my opinion. I tried virtual ribbons but after a week turned them off because I could not center a line, or do other tasks I had done in Word for years.
