Laura, another way to turn off or on, virtual ribbons is to use "quick settings". To do this: 1. hold the insert key(jaws key) down and press the letter V as in victor. 2. type in virtual or ribbons and press enter. 3. down arrow to the quick setting control for virtual ribbons and jaws will announced checked or not. Use the space bar to check or uncheck. 4. press enter or escape to clear control Note while on the item, virtual ribbon, if you tab once, use the arrow keys to read help on this subject and how it works and if the item is checked or unchecked by default. Note 2 You can use this quick setting to find other settings you might want to change. John

It is handy, but you become dependent on them and they don't work as well as the original menus, since they don't use first-letter navigation. I tried them briefly years ago and decided to buckle down and just learn to use the ribbons. Hello, When it comes to navigating MS Word ribbons I'm pretty much a beginner. I've memorized certain shortcut keys to do very specific things but need to learn how to navigate these ribbons. Right now virtual ribbons are turned on .. Would it be easier and more efficient to learn the ribbons if I turned this off? I want and need to learn as much as I can so any feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
