Hi

When you change from the desktop to the laptop keyboard layout, there are
new key combinations used with the caps lock key . Also you must remember
that to turn caps lock on or off, you have to press the caps lock key twice.
However, when using the laptop keyboard layout, you are not locked into
using the caps lock key. In the laptop keyboard layout, holding down the
insert key while pressing other keys works the same as it did in the desktop
keyboard layout. So if there is a numpad on your keyboard, you can use the
insert key plus other keys without even knowing which keyboard is being
used, except for the difference using the caps lock key to turn caps lock
on or off.

Also when using the laptop keyboard layout, you can press and hold
control+shift+capslock and then j to open the JAWS window or menu if you
don't like the stretch of pressing insert and then j with one hand.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] opinion on useing caps lock as JAWS key

I am a new user of JAWS and am having some difficulty in using the insert
key with some keystrokes. I am thinking of trying the caps lock as the JAWS
key, but before I do I would like to know if there is any problems with
using it. It seems that it would be easier to use. Thank you
