You could try a repair on outlook. It may be taking a while to open your email account for some reason, are you using wireless? You could try with a cable if that is practical. My laptop always takes a while to bring up the logon box in Outlook on my laptop but works perfectly quickly on my other machine in the office and my desktop machine.
