Shari, Have you recently opened a file in Word that someone else created? I don't understand it, but sometimes when I open a file from someone else, it changes my settings to those of the person's file. Of course I have no idea if this is what is effecting your computer. I know that I've noticed some inconsistent odd behavior from JAWS 9, but I have not had time to really deal with it. If I'm under a deadline, I go back to using JAWS 8.
Are the problems you are having only occurring when you create a new document, or does it happen when you open an old document that you had created prior to the problem? I hope that makes sense. My most frustrating thing about JAWS right now is the neither JAWS 8 nor 9 allows access to the MS-Word Comments feature. I used to use comments all of the time with JAWS 7. It's one of those crazy, quirky things that seems to come out of nowhere. Sometimes when one of my sighted coworkers uses my computer settings get changed a bit, but no one has used Word on my computer for weeks, and this problem only started a couple days ago. A coworker was using my computer recently to help reconfigure a presentation, but that was in Powerpoint. I can't imagine that caused a change in Word, but I'm trying to think of everything. If I hit insert f in Word, Jaws still gives me the font, formatting, etc., so at least I can check stuff that way. I don't understand, though, why Jaws is ignoring some of the verbocity settings. Please pass along any other ideas.
