I was lucky, the beta 3 was ready for download for me at the time I was listening to the podcast.
However, that said, this is the first cast in forever that I could not listen to entirely, Microsoft patting itself on the back for Edge which after 27 months is still causing problems, has no menus to make it easy to find if, and I am not sure it is possible, how to save favorites, use them, set settings etc., and then they insist they are making it accessible. I hate when a relative uses it and leaves me stuck in it, hate making a search only to have to try to read results in it even after the beta. Why in approximately 27 months this isn't totally accessible to third-party programs like Jaws, seems to work only in Narrator which I only use when absolutely necessary, my prejudice may, I admit, be a result of my experiences with the original narrator, I hated Microsoft Sam, and the mostly uselessness of the original and have been a JAWS user for 20 years. I truly miss the menus, no reference in the browser that I know of to find keystrokes to accomplish anything and being forced to use it if I want to make a search through Microsoft. It is shameful that after 27 months we still have issues with this browser, which may have wonderful eye candy, I don't know, since I can't see it at all but my experiences having to change it back being told every few weeks to switch to it by some message, insistence on it being the best for my health, despite no ability to do things I have done in IE since forever means it isn't ready for my primetime. I stopped the podcast about 3/4 way through and I never do that normally because over the years I find that instead of doing one key combination to accomplish a task I have to perform four or five, that things keep moving around in Windows 10 so with each major update one has to hunt for things that either disappear or were moved is annoying. By the way, I have the Spring Creators update and Office 365 and beta 3 of Jaws 2018, a desktop computer with no microphone so Cortana is useless and in the way. Things I want on my desktop like Outlook end up elsewhere, and what took a couple of steps in even Windows 7 is about a 12 step operation in 10. What I see is that everything takes longer to accomplish and results are less than I'd like. What happened to the ability to read a sentence when running spellcheck for example! Annoying to have to exit to see why something is being flagged and if I want to fix it or not. So the price for accessibility with a keyboard, at any rate, means less productivity because it takes so much more to accomplish a task, and I am no slouch at the keyboard. Listing to Microsoft bragging about how they are making it easier when still if you don't want to use a mouse but wish to keyboard everything, hearing them brag about a browser that for the most part is mouse driven, lacking in ability but probably wonderful for mousers, and on the eyes make me ill. I think 27 months is way too long to have these problems, and if there are keystrokes for what I'd like, or settings I can change, any of them in Edge, that they are invisible to me is a shame. No wonder when Edge opens I do my best to switch browsers back to the less secure IE that has menus, ways to discover new keystrokes when I need them and options I can easily find and change as needed. I will not address this issue again, so if you reply don't expect me to continue the thread. I just listened to the latest Fs podcast on my Vr Stream second generation unit as I do all of the time. I enjoyed the podcast, but I feel the need to express my frustration. While I am well aware that major Windows 10 updates are rolled out over time, the podcast mentioned that in order to use Edge people should either wait for the fix from Microsoft, upgrade to the fall creator's update when available to consumers, or download Jaws 2018 beta three. Ok, so I tried to go to the Freedom Scientific website to download Jaws 2018 beta three. Well, it's not on the site. Why tell folks to download beta three when it's not even on the site? The podcast didn't mention that beta three wasn't available for download yet. I feel that maybe a general announcement such as beta three will be available for download later today or perhaps a general date. I do not like being unable to download an update mentioned in a podcast released today for example. The beta should have been available for download and installation today. The podcast made it sound like the beta three is available. Well? Where is it? Ok, I'm done venting, smile. Mike M.
