AN interesting read for sure. I have not tried any of these and would tend
to be wary of them on principal. Not because I think they are harmful or
anything, but because I tend to find such features don't give an accurate
picture of what the actual audio output is. Maybe it makes a positive
difference for some internet streams, which can be of rather low quality.
Otherwise though, I prefer to just manually adjust my equalizer in my media
player (Winamp or VLC) to get best results according to whatever I happen to
be listening to. I'm not a fan of automatic gain-boosting, either. That's
what a volume control is for. *grins*

I've had soundcards (like the Soundblaster X-fi for instance) that come with
features like this. They call it an "Audio Crystalizer" and it seems to
boost bass quite a lot. That's fine if you want to simulate a dance club or
something, but generally not something I find very desirable.

As for JAWS or other screen-readers ... I seriously doubt you would hear any
positive difference. Do you find JAWS speech unclear? I personally have to
turn the subwoofer all the way down to zero if I want to use the
screen-reader, because giving it a voice that booms, while kind of amusing,
isn't really what I'm after.

You should try these anyway though. I might. You may find the interfaces to
be rather inaccessible though.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Top 5 audio enhancers for Windows 10

Hello list,

Was wondering if anyone’s used any of these sound utilities and whether they
found them to be accessible and actually do in fact increase or enhance
sound quality? Be it audio in general (in my case a laptop) or even if
there’s any positive impact for a screen reader (for me Jaws with
eloquence).

I thought I’d ask first in case someone’s already put them through their
paces and can offer an opinion and hopefully help avoid having to install
and uninstall application after application. Link to the article covering
each one is also below.

Applications in question are:

1. DFX Audio Enhancer

2. Breakaway Audio Enhancer

3. Bongiovi DPS for Windows 10

4. SoundPimp Audio Enhancer

5. Fidelizer Audio Enhancer

Thanks,

Cristobal
