Hello, you are right. I was not a tech person for many years and I simply didn't understand the importance of staying abreast of changes. Now that I am on the other side of the fence I continually come across clients who would like to return to the work force and do not have the skills to be competitive or efficient in the work place. This is very discouraging for them and sometimes a deal breaker for more training. Thankfully there are lists like this around for people to share their knowledge on.

In training clients, it is unfortunate to have clients who have held on to old technology until the point that their skills start to become antiquated and dated. Technology is like a steam roller, if we don't stay ahead of it, it will run us right over without a second thought. When I hear people talking about old OS operating systems, they might as well be talking about XP. Sorry to sound perhaps rough, but with all of the updates to 10, 7 is pretty much like XP at this point. Microsoft has already warned users that the security architecture for Windows 7 is extremely vulnerable and open to many types of risks, and they dropped a significant amount of support for it back in 2013. It will lose all support in 2020 and if one is using Windows 7 or Internet Explorer, you are falling behind the train. I am not trying to start a debate, and hope that my words don't come across as combative, just putting this out there so it doesn't come back to be a thorn in anyone's side. Screen Shade cannot be backported to Windows 7 (might be, but it is both difficult and as Win7 is in security maintenance mode at this time).
