It could be a RAM issue, but I have seen Outlook run well in systems with
only 256 MB of memory under Windows XP. I have also seen it work well on a
system, running Vista with 512 MB of memory.

I would guess that there might be something else running on the system that
would cause such a problem. One place to look would be security or
anti-virus software. Many security software packages will integrate tightly
with Outlook and e-mail scanning of some sort may be the cause of the
problem. I have not noticed this problem myself, so you might have to look
at the security software that is running and see if that might be causing a
problem.

Woo! Could it be a RAM issue then? I must say my friend had to get her
laptop charger replaced, so am now wondering if the sluggishness of Outlook
was caused by a fault with her old one? Anyway, thanks for the comments,
greatly appreciated.

I have always found that Jaws has worked well with Microsoft Outlook and
have never encountered any problems with sluggish performance. I have never
heard this from anyone else who has used Outlook.

This has been the case for me since using versions of Outlook since 2000 and
Jaws versions 3.x and up.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2003

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has noticed improved responsiveness when
using Outlook 2003 at least with JAWS 9? I seem to remember with JAWS 8
Outlook was sluggish, particularly when reading messages in plain text. This
doesn't seem to be the case with JAWS 9. This I think will be my prefered
e-mail client here on out. Thanks for any comments regarding this.
