Hello,
Using a Dell laptop, Windows 10 creator, and Jaws 18 .. The last two times I turned my computer off I've had problems. When I turn the computer back on I can't get Jaws to speak and have had to hold the power button down to shut off the computer, wait a minute or so, and then turn the computer back on. One of those times Jaws said that Windows couldn't complete the update. I have left my computer on since yesterday for fear of not being able to use it. My independence is totally reliant upon this computer .. Being able to read my mail, pay my bills, etc. I live alone and do not have sighted help readily available. Today, I was away from the computer for a short bit and when I came back there was a message that said "important Windows update notification" .. I pressed alt + F4 and that went away. How do I find where and what the notification is? I've never updated anything without sighted help and am not sure quite what to do. Should I just contact Microsoft disability or is this something I can take care of myself without putting myself in a position to not be able to use the computer? Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Laura For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
