8.1 If Adobe 8.1 is properly installed on your computer, go to my computer, scroll to the folder where the pdf file is saved, and hit enter. Adobe 8.1 will immediately begin to convert the file for you. Then you have the option in the adobe menu to save the file as a text file, which you can open in word. Remember if the pdf file you have is an image or picture file, adobe 8.1 cannot convert it. Instead, you will get a message that says "empty document."
