Rick,
I agree with you on these observations. Like you, I've been using Jaws for
many years. I'd rather tailor the response directly for each program,
rather than setting Jaws on a higher level and missing important data.

Hi Sandy,
I have been using Jaws for about 18 years, and I have my verbosity level set
to "Beginner".
This way I have the best control over exactly what Jaws speaks.
You can adjust Jaws to your liking with time as you become more familiar
with it.

even though some words are obviously not said in the advanced mode, I think
beginners is where I will stay. thank you all for your replies

For example, in beginner verbosity mode, when you press CTRL+C, JAWS
says "copied selection to clipboard". In the other verbosity modes,
JAWS simply announces "copied".

Hi Sandy,
Not necessarily, but for someone that has been using Jaws for a long time,
knows what's going to be reported by Jaws, & just doesn't want to hear all
the excess speaking that Jaws will report while they're doing whatever
computer functions they're performing throughout the day.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

then I take it that the advanced setting is for people who can actually
see
the computer monitor screen

Hi Sandy,
Jaws has 3 modes of operation. Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced. The
higher the level you select to run, the less Jaws will speak as you use
the
program, & this means all across the board. So, if you're running
Beginner
you will hear much more of Jaws as you do your work, email, web serfing,
etc...

Hi Matthew,
Open the Settings Center with, Insert / Jaws key + 6, then press, Control,
shift, + D.
Arrow down to, Speech Verboscity, right arrow to open.
Arrow down 1 time to, Verboscity Level ... 1 of 3, now press the spacebar
to
toggle through youroptions, & stopping when you hear, Advanced.
Tab to, Okay, press enter to save & close.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Hi, Folks. How do I put JAWS into Advanced User Mode? It says to go to
Help to do this, but I couldn't find the place to make this happen.
Thanks in advance.--Matthew Chao
