hello; the way I save attachments in windows live mail is;
1, open the message which contains the attachment, 2, use the tab key to navigate to the attachment name, and ctrl+right arrow to highlight, 3, now press alt+f/s/a, your placed into the save dialog window, the default folder is documents, so if this is suitable, tab to save.
