Yeah, increasingly sites will not support it, and Microsoft is pushing Edge so not doing anything with iE except security updates.
I have heard that some sites, particularly involved with uS government services, only support IE. I'm not sure if this is true but I know at my old work IE was the only browser supported by the IT department. So there are reasons for keeping it around.
