Hi JM That was exactly the setting I was looking for. When I changed automatically type into the search box to select typed item in the view, first letter navigation worked very well
Thank you very much. Hey. There is a setting in file explorer options, in the tree view under the "view" tab, which says "automatically type into the search box". You'll find this under 'when typing in the list view", I believe. Maybe this setting is checked in your new account. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List <jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com> On Behalf Of Mike O'Brien Sent: July 12, 2018 2:50 PM To: jaws-users-list <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to enable first letter navigation when you're in a folder? Hi I recently added a 2nd administrator account to a Windows 10 1803 computer When I am logged onto that account and navigate into a folder, I can use first letter navigation to find the file I want and press enter to open it. But when I am logged onto the new User account and navigate into a folder, when I press a key for first letter navigation, a search box appears containing that character. So I can't just press enter to open that file. So are there settings which will make first letter navigation in the new user account work like it does in the first user account? I will be sincerely grateful for any assistance. Thank you in advance.
