Have you checked that you still have status bar set to view in Microsoft Word? You can check this by going to Tools, Options and tab around the View tab until you come to status bar. This should be checked.
The fact you are getting the start menu read out is peculiar for this key combination. Personally I would, after checking that the status bar is actually on , view move onto next checking this out by using another screen reader like NVDA to make sure that this is not a Windows key mapping error. If this key combination continues to open the start menu in NVDA then this is not a Jaws but a Windows issue. If this does not happen then suspicion does fall on Jaws. You could run jaws in default mode to see if this problem continues. I believe you copy the following line jawsX /defaultĀ And then exit jaws. Press start then R and then paste in the command to run jaws in default mode. Replace X with the version of Jaws that you have before copying to clipboard. The space between Jaws and backslash is important. If this works you should backup your jaws settings and save this as your default configuration and start to add in dictionary files etc from your backup. If this does not work it is probably time to get onto Tech Support. Try maximizing your program.
