Hi Mark,
1. place focus upon the jaws window by pressing insert J or alt Tab.
2. press alt H for the help menu
3. press Z for start up wizard.
4. tab around until you find the option to change the character ecco. The 
wizard has a few sections which I can't remember off the top of my head, but 
just press the next button until Jaws tells you you are in the verbosity 
section.
