Last week I received an email from AVG tech support notifying me that the
update for the paid version of 8 was available for download. I downloaded
it and realized it was a new installation file not just a patch for the
original. It was in fact a little smaller. It took two tries to get it
installed and working. The first time I told it to block some things I
didn't recognize and it completely disabled the internet. To the extent
that it couldn't even update itself. I uninstalled and re did it and didn't
tell it to block anything. It works and doesn't crash when jaws is running.
I suspect they did something that interfered with the video intercept in
jaws. Anyway it seems to be working fine. It doesn't block my home network
or get in the way of anything I have tried so far.

One of the things I asked it to block the first time was something called
Bonjour services. I have googled this and it seems to be an apple Mac
program. What's it doing on a windows machine. Evidently it is essential
for outlook express and windows internet explorer to contact the internet.

Regards.
