I think members of this list have differing experiences. I have forced both Outlook Express in the past and now Outlook 2003 to receive emails in plain text format. I never have problems with Jaws reading emails now , whereas like you I found receiving emails in html caused unpredictable behaviour with Jaws.
However, I have seen others on this list supporting the use of html emails as working best with Jaws which surprised me. I guess you should experiment to see which setup your system likes best.
